Personal security · The app is in beta

Personal security that learns you.

Lilith is building the future of personal security: an AI that understands when you might be in danger, and gets better every day. It starts with an app for iPhone and Apple Watch that looks out for you on nights out, walks home and first dates.

Lilith is not an emergency service. If you're in danger, call 911.

Our mission

Security has always been built for places. We're building it for people.

Locks, alarms and cameras protect buildings. Nothing protects you on the walk between them, on a first date, or at home with the wrong person. Lilith exists to bring that day closer: security that goes where you go, knows what's normal for you, and notices when something isn't.

Today

The Lilith app

Our first step, in beta now: check-ins, an AI that asks before it alerts anyone, and help that knows where you are.

Every day

An AI that keeps learning

It learns each person on their own phone, and learns from everyone who chooses to share, anonymously. Every day it's used, it gets better.

Ahead

Security that's simply there

On your wrist, in your pocket, wherever you go next: personal security as natural as locking your door, built on everything Lilith learns.

An AI that gets better every day

Most safety apps wait for you to press a button. Lilith also notices, and it's designed to learn.

It learns you

From the first day, Lilith learns your normal heart rate for each activity, your usual places and times, and how you answer when it checks on you. All of it on your phone, sharper every day you use it.

It weighs everything together

Heart rate, movement, going still, sounds, time and place: no single sign raises an alarm. Lilith's model weighs them together, takes a closer look when something appears, and asks before it alerts anyone.

It learns what fooled it

When Lilith asks and you're fine, one tap tells it why: a workout, a concert, a scary movie, a dropped phone. Next time, it knows.

It learns from everyone, privately

People who choose to can share anonymous, rounded-off summaries of what happened, never audio, places or who they are. Each new version of the model is tested against the last, and released only if it's better.

Lilith is in beta and its model is young. That's why we're starting now: every day it's used, it gets better.

The first step: the Lilith app

You stay in control. Lilith asks before it alerts anyone, unless you ask for help yourself.

1 · Check in

Tell Lilith where you're headed

Start a check-in for a walk home, a night out or a date, by a time or until you're home. Forget to end it once you're home safe? Lilith notices and stands down.

2 · It watches quietly

Signs, weighed together

Your heart rate, sudden movement, going completely still, distress sounds: none alerts anyone alone. Lilith weighs them together and only asks when there's real reason to.

3 · People you trust

Help that knows where you are

If you need help, or can't answer, your trusted contacts get a text and a live map of where you are, and can tap "I'm on it" so the others know.

Ways to ask for help, even when you can't speak

SOS

Hold the button to alert everyone at once.

Silent alert

From the Action Button, Back Tap or Siri. No sound, nothing on screen; your contacts are asked not to call.

Duress PIN

A second PIN that looks like it cancels an alert, but quietly sends one.

I feel off

Think your drink was spiked? One tap asks a friend to call or come get you, and Lilith watches more closely.

Apple Watch

SOS from your wrist, and taps on your wrist when Lilith asks if you're okay.

Meeting someone

Note who you're meeting. Your contacts only see it if an alert goes out.

Made for the moments that are hardest to talk about

When you freeze

Freezing is one of the most common reactions to assault. Lilith notices a racing heart while you're completely still, and you can alert people without moving or speaking.

When it's someone you know

Most assaults happen at home, by someone the person knows. Lilith works at home too, and a duress PIN, discreet notifications and a Safety PIN can keep anyone else from switching it off.

When you might have been drugged

Unsteady walking, then going suddenly still, somewhere unfamiliar: Lilith treats that very differently from settling into bed.

Afterwards

A private, encrypted, time-stamped record for yourself, locked with your PIN, and links to RAINN and the domestic violence hotline.

Private by design

A safety app knows a lot about you. Lilith keeps almost all of it on your phone.

  • What Lilith learns about your heart rate, places and habits stays on your phone.
  • Listening happens on your phone. Nothing is recorded unless an alert goes out, and then only after a loud spoken notice.
  • Your contacts get your name and location only when an alert is sent.
  • Nothing you do in Lilith is sold or used for advertising. This website has no cookies or trackers.
  • Face ID can't cancel an alert or delete your records: someone could hold your phone up to your face. That takes your Safety PIN.

Questions

Who is Lilith?

A company working to make personal security as natural as locking your door. The app is our first product.

How does Lilith's AI get better?

Two ways. On your phone, it learns what's normal for you every day you use it, and from your answers when it checks on you; none of that leaves your phone. And if you choose to share, anonymous summaries of situations (never audio, places, times or who you are) help train the model for everyone. A new model is only released after it's tested and shown to be better than the one before.

Is Lilith a replacement for calling 911?

No. Lilith alerts people you trust; it doesn't contact emergency services. If you're in danger, call 911. Lilith is in beta and may not always work.

Will it alert my friends by mistake?

Lilith works hard not to. It asks "are you okay?" first, with time to answer and reminders. Only when you don't answer and it's near-certain something is wrong does it alert anyone, often asking one person to check on you first. You choose how often it may ask.

Does it record me?

Not normally. Listening for distress happens on your phone and nothing is kept. Audio is recorded only during an alert you or Lilith sent, after a loud spoken notice, and stored encrypted.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No, but it helps. With a Watch, Lilith can use your heart rate and tap your wrist when it asks if you're okay.

What do my contacts see?

A text with your name and that you may need help, and a private link to your live location for the next two hours. Nothing else, and only when an alert is sent.

Is it on Android? What does it cost?

Lilith is iPhone-only for now, and free during the beta.

Why "Lilith"?

In the old story, Lilith was the one who refused to be controlled. That's who this app is for.
